Atsuko Suzuki

After initially studying in her hometown of Sakura, Japan, Atsuko Suzuki proceeded to enter the Senzoku Gakuen. College of Music in Tokyo where she received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance, studying with Prof. Reiko Matsuzaki. During her graduate studies, she was part of an ensemble that won the top prize at the Senzoku Gakuen Chamber Music Competition.

In 2004, she moved to Vancouver, Canada where she continued her studies with Prof. Lee Kum-Sing at the Vancouver Academy of Music, graduating with an Artist Diploma. She has returned to Japan for several performances, including Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Tochigi Symphony Orchestra. Among the music festivals she has performed at are the International Holland Music Sessions and Orford Music Festival. In addition, she was associate accompanist at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont. In 2009, Atsuko graduated with a Master of Music from the University of South Florida where she studied with Dr. Svetozar Ivanov and was a member of the President’s Trio.

As pianist in the President’s Trio she performed the Grand Trio by American composer David del Tredici at the Robert Helps Festival with the composer in attendance. She was selected winner of the University of South Florida Concerto Competition, performing the Saint Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 with the USF Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she was invited to study at the Vicenza Conservatory in Italy, where she gave solo and chamber music performances.
