Pavel Chiriac

Violin

Pavel has enjoyed a distinguished international career as a musician and teacher for many years. He performed as concertmaster with the Beaux Arts Opera Company and the Straussiana Italiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and led the Prometheus String Quartet in Rome, Italy. During his time as concertmaster with the Straussiana Philharmonic, the orchestra won first prize and the gold medal at the international competition “Foyer Des Artistes”.

Since 1993, Pavel has been performing as the concertmaster for the Burnaby Symphony Orchestra, as a contract player for Okanagan Symphonic Orchestra, and freelance with the symphony orchestras of Kamloops, Prince George, Vancouver Metropolitan, Vancouver Chamber, Viva Musica, Nanaimo, and various other chamber groups and ensembles around the province.

Pavel’s teaching has roots in the most advanced methods; the result of more than 30 years of study and research. Some of these methods include the Classical German from Carl Fleish: the American from Ivan Galamian, and the application of the Suzuki method. Many of his students have won awards at local and provincial festivals and have enjoyed great success in concerts and Royal Conservatory exams. Pavel’s success as a teacher lies in his unlimited patience and gentleness, especially towards his younger students, and his ability to customize his teaching to suit each student’s needs. His students have the opportunity to learn successfully proven techniques that enable them ultimately to play with relaxation and effortless efficiency. These qualities, together with his vast store of knowledge and his ability to teach at all levels, make Pavel one of the most highly sought-after teachers in the province.
