Kyle Hawkes

Kyle is an accomplished guitarist from Richmond, BC. He is a recent graduate of the Master’s of music degree, in Guitar Performance, from the University of British Columbia. Kyle also completed his Bachelors degree at UBC studying under world-renowned guitarist, Daniel Bolshoy. Kyle has performed in masterclasses for some of the world leading classical guitarists, including Roland Dyens, Denis Azabagic, Vladimir Gorbach, Thibaut Garcia, Marc Teicholz, and Carlo Marchione.


Some of Kyle’s awards include first place in the Richmond music competition, first place in the Kiwanis music competition, and RA McMath’s award for top guitar student. Kyle was also been awarded multiple scholarships during his time as UBC.

In addition to being educated in classical music, Kyle has been trained in multiple genres, and currently performs around the city in a number of ensembles, ranging from classical, folk, gyspy jazz, and bluegrass.

Kyle has been teaching in the city for many years and welcomes students of all ages and levels.
