Carly was born and raised in Vancouver, BC where she began taking piano lessons at the age of 7. She received a Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria where she studied with Dr. Jamie Syer, and a Master of Music from Texas Tech University where she was awarded the Claribel Biggs and Weils Music entrance scholarships. Carly gave her first performance with an orchestra at the age of 17, when she performed with the Victoria Symphony after being a winner of the Young Musicians Concerto Competition. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across Canada, the United States and in Europe.
Carly has always possessed a strong passion for teaching music. With over 12 years of teaching experience, she has taught piano to children, youth, and adults. Carly is very passionate about the Russian method for teaching piano, and has devoted much of her time to studying, researching and using this method with her students. Carly believes in providing a high quality of musical education while promoting the enjoyment of music.
Carly has been teaching at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music since September 2013.
