The British Columbia Conservatory of Music Summer Sounds program is ideal for students at the high-intermediate to advanced levels, including university students who are planning careers as solo performers, orchestral players, conductors, teachers and/or composers.
The program provides an opportunity for students to work closely with some of the strings-world’s top musicians and teachers. These highly skilled and enthusiastic pedagogues bring an enormous amount of understanding, knowledge and artistry to their classes.
The Summer Sounds program is an excellent time of social and academic exposure, developing lifelong teamwork skills and a time of “rubbing elbows” with highly-motivated and well-known professionals.
The focus is on one-to-one personal training of repertoire and technical work. Learn from experienced musicians who are able to impart their own acquired skill-set knowledge developed through years of involvement in performance.
Chamber music coaching
Students will have the opportunity to participate in ensemble playing or chamber music groups. Groups will generally consist of 3-5 players of similar musical ability.
These concentrated public coaching sessions will be given by expert faculty and guests of the Summer Sounds music program.
Gain the skills, knowledge, attitudes and inter-personal relationship ability to develop connections, as you transition into your highly demanding professional career.
The comprehensive conducting overview sessions are designed for the musician who wishes to develop the necessary skills of effective conducting. Selected students will be able to rehearse and perform in the role of an orchestral conductor.
