Festival Awards

Adjudicator Comments
Each candidate will be given a written critique and a mark for their performance. At the conclusion of each class, the adjudicator will give verbal comments and, time permitting, will work with each student in a workshop setting.

Certificates
The Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates represent a performance achievement. They do not indicate 1st, 2nd or 3rd place standing in a class. Gold, Silver, or Bronze certificates are issued as follows:

                               Gold, 88 and above       Silver, 84 - 87        Bronze, 80 - 83

There are no set number of Gold, Silver or Bronze certificates allotted for each class. By way of example: in a class of ten students, five may receive Gold certificates and the remainder receive Silver or Bronze. In the event there is no "Gold" awarded in the class, there may be no winner designated.

Marks
The adjudicator comment sheet given to each student will contain a critique and the mark the student has achieved. Marks are not announced during or at the completion of the class. They are kept privately by the adjudicator on a tabulation sheet, which in turn, will be submitted to the BCCM Music Festival Office where they will be held in confidence.

Class Winner
A performance standard minimum of 88 is required to win a class. The winner will not be announced; however, the winner's name and mark will be posted online within 48 hours of the completion of each class.

Medallions
The winner will receive a certificate plus a medallion in recognition of their achievement. They will be contacted by telephone to inform them that they are eligible to participate in the Honour's Recital held at the conclusion of the festival. Medallions are awarded at the Honour's Recital. Only one medallion per student will be awarded even though they may have been the winner in more than one class.

Scholarships
In order to qualify for a scholarship, a student must enter:
     1) a minimum of three solo classes OR
     2) one (1) concert group class and one (1) solo class.

Scholarship recipients are determined by averaging the two highest marks obtained in all classes. Marks will not be announced at the completion of each class. Marks will be kept privately by the adjudicator on a tabulation sheet, which in turn will be submitted to the BCCM Music Festival Office where they will be held in confidence. The marks will be subsequently averaged for each student from each class to determine the winner.

Keeper Trophy
Scholarship recipients will be awarded a keeper trophy.

Perpetual Trophy
The name of the winner for each category will be placed on a perpetual trophy which will remain on display at the Conservatory.
